November in the Desert

I’m so excited to share Kelly and Austin’s beautiful Scottsdale wedding from this past November! The sunshine, the desert setting, and the energy of their friends and family made their day feel relaxed, joyful, and full of meaning. I also brought along my 35mm film camera, which added such a nostalgic touch to their gallery!!

Their Day

From the moment I arrived, Kelly and Austin were fully present and ready to enjoy their day. They didn’t overthink the timeline or try to force anything. They simply let the day unfold, and that gave their photos a natural, easy rhythm. I focused on documenting the moments that mattered most to them, their connection, the way their families showed up, and the quiet in-between moments where they could actually pause and take everything in together.

They began the day getting ready in their separate casitas and suites at Scottsdale Plaza Resort, which made for a relaxed and unhurried start. Having that space allowed them to stay grounded and enjoy the morning without distractions.

Their first look took place in the ceremony space, surrounded by tall green hedges and palm trees. It felt private, calm, and intentional. The perfect setting for that moment to unfold naturally.

Scottsdale

One of the things I love about photographing weddings at Scottsdale Plaza Resort is the variety of photo locations all within a short walk. We used the ceremony space, several shaded walkways, and an open grass area where the sun was glowing perfectly behind them. Right after they walked down the aisle, we snuck away for a few minutes so they could soak in the joy of being newly married before jumping back into family photos. That short pause made such a difference and gave them space to really feel the moment.

Cocktail hour was held outdoors, taking advantage of the beautiful November weather, and then transitioned into a thoughtfully designed dinner setup where they shared their first dance together. As the night continued, guests moved into a stunning ballroom space where a live band from Lucky Devils Band kept the energy high and the dance floor full all night. You can check them out here:

The desert light in Scottsdale is one of the biggest gifts a photographer can get, and November delivered the perfect balance, warmth without intensity and a soft glow that added so much depth and texture. The setting supported every moment without ever taking attention away from Kelly and Austin.

35mm Film

Shooting on 35mm film throughout the day added something really special. Film naturally slows things down and captures moments with intention. The grain, the color, the softness, even the imperfections, it all adds to the story. Kelly and Austin were excited about having these nostalgic images in their gallery, and those film scans became some of the most meaningful photos from the entire day.
